In the latest issue of 3D Artist (Issue 81), Blue Pencil has been named as one of the "Best Tools for Animation" in the 90 Plugins, Hacks and Apps article:

"Bring advanced 2D drawing to your 3D workflow and Maya’s viewport with the help of this plugin. Blue Pencil includes many more features than Maya’s native Grease Pencil."

Keyframe MP Update

Version 1.2.1

A new version of Keyframe MP is now available for download.

This update brings with it several smaller, yet highly requested, features. The first of which allows the user to change the video playback speed, by either slowing it down or speeding it up. Options and hotkeys are available for incrementally changing the speed, common presets and setting custom values. Please note, audio is not currently available with this feature.

The second new feature allows for looping when frame stepping and mouse scrubbing. This is of particular benefit when working with cycles and can be enabled through the Playback menu.

Additionally, this update includes an option to disable endless mouse scrubbing and a number of minor bug fixes.

See the release notes for full details.

Updated Shot Mask Script

Now Available

An update to the Shot Mask script was recently released to help workaround the case where text created in newer versions of Maya may have letters with normals facing in different directions. Prior to the update different characters may have failed to display correctly.

The updated Shot Mask script (full source) can be downloaded from the scripts section.

Playblast/Reference Viewer Redux

Keyframe MP and Maya

One of the most popular requests for Keyframe MP during the beta period was to allow the player to sync with Maya’s timeline (like it did in the original Playblast/Reference Viewer script).

As a feature that has been on the todo list since day one, I'm please to announce that it can finally be moved to the completed column.

To demonstrate, I’ve recreated the Playblast/Reference Viewer video using Keyframe MP:
