Chris Zurbrigg is an independent software developer living in Ontario, Canada. He specializes in the development of animator-friendly tools and the design of custom production pipeline workflows.

When he’s not behind a monitor, Chris, an avid runner, can be found on the streets and trails training for his next marathon.


Chris graduated from the University of Western Ontario with degrees in Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering. His career started in the cable industry developing software for the next-generation of digital cable. During this period, Chris enrolled in Animation Mentor and completed the Advanced Character Animation program in his spare time.

Chris has since merged his passions for programming and animation. For the past ten years he has been involved with the animation industry in one form or another. As a Software Engineer for March Entertainment, Chris played a key role in the design and development of the TACTIC-based production pipeline, created from the ground up, for the series Mia and Me.

At Guru Studio, Chris was a Senior Technical Director on several series including Paw Patrol and Dinopaws. He was responsible for tools development, Shotgun integration and introducing NUKE workflows into the existing production pipeline. Prior to this, Chris was the Lead Software Developer at Circus Ink Entertainment, developing Maya plug-ins for commercial release.

As an independent developer, Chris designed and developed the popular Keyframe MP player for animators along with the highly successful Blue Pencil and Charcoal Editor plug-ins for Maya.

Chris is currently developing new applications and is involved in the creation of an open pipeline framework suitable for animation, vfx and game development.
