Maya to Keyframe MPX Overview

Maya to Keyframe MPX is a Python script for Maya that allows users to control Keyframe MPX through a compact UI inside of Maya.

The script provides timeline syncing (time changes in Maya are applied to Keyframe MPX) and playblasting functionality.

See the Installation Guide for detailed setup instructions.

User Interface

The Maya to Keyframe MPX UI is a window that displays in Maya. It is divided into three sections: Sync, TC Frame Offset and Playblast:

Sync

When synced, Maya's playback time drives Keyframe MPX. The current frame in Keyframe MPX updates any time the current frame in Maya changes.

Sync is enabled by clicking the Sync button. This button turns green when sync is enabled.

  • Offset
The sync offset is the difference in frames between Maya's playback time and Keyframe MPX's playback time.
  • From Range Start
When enabled, Frame 1 in Maya will map to the range start frame in Keyframe MPX.
  • Multiplier
The current frame in Keyframe MPX is set to the Maya frame * multiplier value.

TC Frame Offset

The TC Frame Offset section contains buttons used to set the TC Frame Offset Override value in Keyframe MPX.

The Time Control Frame Offset Override changes the start frame displayed by the Keyframe MPX time control.

This is very useful when creating playblasts that don't start on frame 1, allowing Keyframe MPX's displayed frame to match the current Maya frame.

Playblast

Clicking the Playblast button creates a plastblast using Maya's current settings and opens it in Keyframe MPX.

  • TC Frame Offset
Option to set the TC Frame Offset Override when the playblast is opened in Keyframe MPX.

The Open Temp Folder button opens Keyframe MPX's temporary directory (used for playblasting).

The Clear Temp Folder button removes all items from this directory.
