Keyframe MPX Documentation

Preferences

The Preferences dialog can be displayed by selecting Edit->Preferences... from the main menu.

General

Temp Directory

  • Path
    Location on disk where temporary Keyframe MPX files are saved (e.g. intermediate files)

Cache

  • Size
    Maximum amount of memory available for caching audio and video. Warning: It is important to leave enough memory for the OS and other applications otherwise overall system performance may suffer.

File

  • Recent Files
    The maximum number of files to display in the Recent Files menu item
  • Recent Projects
    The maximum number of project to display in the Recent Projects menu item

Options

  • Open media in new players (Windows only)
    Opens media in a new instance of Keyframe MPX
  • Resize to fit video
    On load, resize the player to fit the actual video dimensions
  • Pause playback on seek
    Pause playback after changing the playback time using the time control
  • Pause playback on scrub
    Pause playback after left-mouse scrubbing in the viewer
  • Endless mouse scrub
    Wrap the mouse from the left of the monitor to the right (and vise-versa) while scrubbing
  • Pan/zoom mouse controls enabled
    Toggle pan/zoom mouse controls
  • Double-click in viewer toggles play/pause
    Toggle play/pause state by double-clicking in the viewport
  • Playback controls seek range start/end
    Seek start/end button on the playback controls are applied to the active range
  • Audio output on backwards playback
    Enables audio (played in reverse) when playing a media file backwards
  • Hide volume control
    When enabled, the volume control becomes a pop-up control activate by a button click

Network

Client API (Maya to Keyframe MPX)

  • Port
    The port Keyframe MPX listens on for connections from external applications (changing this value requires a restart)
  • Enabled/Disabled
    Option to enable/disable the client API port (changing this value requires a restart)

Maya Tools

  • CommandPort
    The commandPort that must be opened (in Maya) to allow for communication with Maya Tools
  • Timeout (ms)
    The timeout (in milliseconds) to wait for a response from Maya when using Maya Tools

Advanced

Viewer Scrub Speed

Scrub speed values (pixels per frame) for standard use and modifier keys

Audio on Scrub

Sets the scrub actions that play audio when activated. This can be left mouse scrubbing in the viewer or dragging the global or range time controls.

Note: Frame by frame scrubbing is only guarenteed when left mouse dragging in the viewport.

  • Software renderer (experimental)
    When enabled the software render is used for drawing all UI elements
